Eminent Odissi dancer Smt. Aruna Mohanty received the prestigious Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award from Shri M. Hamid Ansari, the Vice President of India on 22nd July.

The Vice President, Shri Mohd. Hamid Ansari presented the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award-2010 to Smt. Aruna Mohanty, Bhubaneswar, for her outstanding contribution to Odissi, at the investiture ceremony of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards-2010, in New Delhi on July 22, 2011.

Devotion, perseverance and commitment have placed Aruna Mohanty as the finest among Odissi dancers of her generation. Nurtured under the able guidance of Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, Aruna especially excels in the abhinaya aspect of Odissi.
